Funding priorities

The development of world-class facilities

We are looking to transform our facilities with the biggest investment in our estate since the foundation of the School in 1965. The five-year plan will comprise a combination of new build and refurbishment of existing stock to provide updated teaching and research facilities, a new library and resource space. In addition, a new hotel and conference centre is intended to be built on an adjacent site to support the School's executive education provision.

The realisation of this vision will provide unrivalled facilities, delivering a business school in keeping with the ambitions of a world-leading university and an aspiring international city.

Scholarships and bursaries

Admission to Manchester Business School should be based on academic merit and potential. We aim to recruit and retain the very best students, regardless of their socio-economic background. We recognise, however, that the increasing cost of higher education can be a barrier to many accepting a place at MBS and are therefore committed to developing a programme of scholarships and bursaries to support the very best.

A strong force for research

Investment in research is at the core of MBS. We have a long history of research excellence demonstrated in part, by the government's ranking of MBS as number one in England for research power. The Financial Times also ranks our doctoral programmes as among the very best in the world. Our research prowess is demonstrated by the high standing of our many academic units and in the success of our PhD graduates in academia and industry.

Opportunities are available to endow academic chairs and to fund doctoral students. Such support is critical if MBS is to stay ahead of the field in an internationally competitive environment.
