Practical, situation-based learning

A practical based learning approach unlike any other, the Manchester Method replicates real world business challenges in every project to build skills you can apply in your work.

People who have studied this way stand out. They are confident and assured, ready to tackle anything with experience to guide them.

Studying for an MBA whilst working provides you with the opportunity to apply what you learn in real life on a day to day basis even before you have completed your course.

Group work

During workshops you’ll work in groups on industry case studies, with a high level of academic supervision.

You’ll build confidence through group work, study in a supportive environment and learn some fairly hard lessons about group processes, project management and project delivery.

Teamwork is a particularly important aspect of the Manchester Method and you will work in multi-cultural groups throughout your programme, whether that’s at workshops, through group projects (you'll spend at least 30% of your time working on projects - putting theory into practice to bring learning to life) or study groups. This brings a unique breadth of experience and perspective that makes the most of MBSs international approach.

Key elements

Our MBA programmes comprise three key elements:

  • course modules which direct you through the subject
  • residential workshops in Manchester or at one of our international executive centres
  • the project stage, when you cover a work-related management issue of your own choosing. This allows you to work as a consultant for your organisation on a current problem or project

As you progress you'll be exposed to ever more complex business problems, but you will be supported throughout by our academic staff, who are always on hand to advise, coach and supervise - providing you with the right level of help when you need it.

We have an international faculty, international curriculum and live in the 21st century where business is global. We are able to bring that global reach into our programmes having students interact with other students and businesses with a global presence, which is the best way to prepare leaders for the 21st century. - Professor Michael Luger, Director of MBS
