Alliance Manchester Business School is the biggest business and management school in the UK. The School builds on its heritage to compete on a global scale for the best students and staff, and will continue to generate cutting edge research that is recognised by peers and practitioners across the globe.
Our doctoral programme is embedded within a strong research environment. Our 2008 RAE profile showed that 60% of the Alliance MBS research output was rated as either world-leading or international class, and positioned Alliance MBS at number one in the UK in terms of research power.
Almost all our 200+ academic and research staff have an established international research reputation in their areas of expertise. Doctoral research is well integrated into the research life of the School, its Centres and Institutes, whereby research excellence contributes to the quality of the postgraduate research provisions and the quality of postgraduate research contributes to research excellence.
Our aim is to enable our 300+ students, many of whom are from outside the UK, to get a position in a top business school. We do this by encouraging our students to publish in academic journals, presenting their research findings at renowned conferences, and forging international links with, for instance, research institutes. Our alumni have secured positions in universities, government institutes as well as private sector organisations.
Doctoral researchers at Alliance MBS have access to one of the best resourced library and information services in the UK. The MBS Library and the University’s John Rylands Library hold a wealth of electronic and more traditional information sources, including company financials, broker reporting, current and historical data from leading financial and market reports.
You will have global, 24/7 access to extensive electronic resources, including latest news, trade and academic publications.
To help you exploit our outstanding resources, our specialist librarians guide, advise and train you in all aspects of information retrieval and management, extracting and handling data from electronic data sources, and provide one-to-one tutorials for specific issues.
