Application process

For the next programme starting on 1 October 2012, we will be reviewing applications on a batch basis, with the following admissions schedule.

Pre-application deadline Formal application deadline Interview by potential supervisor Admission decision by MBS Decision from Applicant
10 Jan 2012 1 Feb 2012 TBA 16 Mar 2012 16 May 2012
1 Mar 2012 1 Apr 2012 TBA 16 May 2012 16 Jul 2012
1 May 2012 1 Jun 2012 TBA 16 Jul 2012 31 Jul 2012

To be considered for the DBA you will initially need to send a 3,000 word research proposal and an up-to-date CV to dba@mbs.ac.uk for pre-application assessment. Once we have reviewed your CV and research proposal, we will provide feedback, and, if appropriate, you will be invited to make a formal application.

Once we have reviewed your completed application including all supporting materials, if deemed appropriate, you will be invited for a formal interview with a potential supervisor. If you are not available for a face-to-face interview at MBS, a telephone or Skype interview will be arranged.

We anticipate allocating 50% of places after deadline 1, 25% after deadline 2 and the final 25% of places after deadline 3. Thus, an early application is advantageous.

Application fee

Formal applications to join the Manchester DBA must be accompanied with a £1000 application fee. Information on how to make this payment will be sent once you have been invited to apply.

This application fee is refunded if Manchester Business School are unable to offer you a place on the programme. If a place is offered and you decline, withdraw or defer your place on the programme, this application fee is non-refundable.

On accepting your place, the application fee will be deducted from the overall course fees.

Find a supervisor

Finding the right supervisor for your research is vital. It can be the deciding factor in choosing a place to study, and can have a major impact on the outcome of your doctoral programme.

Entry requirements

To join our doctoral programme you will need a recognised Masters or MBA degree, a professional profile of at least six years of management experience showing significant career progression, plus evidence of good spoken and written English.

Fees

The total DBA fee for October 2012 is £50,000.
