Manchester Business School is home to the UK's leading centre for business research; we aim to be among the world's top 25 business schools by 2015 through continuous investment in both staff and resources.
According to the government's most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008), 60% of MBS research is rated as either world or international class; the 2008 RAE results place MBS at number one in the UK for research power.
A truly international school, our academics hail from over 40 countries, whilst our PhD students travel from all over the globe to join our doctoral programme, ranked number one in the world in the FT MBA Ranking 2011.
Joined up research
We are able to support research across core business areas, including marketing, strategy, HR/organisations, and accounting and finance, providing our researchers with an ideal environment in which to cross boundaries and engage in inter-disciplinary collaboration.
As members of at least one dedicated research centre or group, our academics have a stable framework from which to publish high quality peer-reviewed papers, and they regularly provide reports for high profile clients from the public and private sectors.

The Manchester Institute of Innovation Research is considered to be in the top two innovation centres in the world, with the largest number of innovation researchers in Europe. The Herbert Simon Institute boasts a growing international reputation in the field of public policy, whilst our accounting research group is ranked first in the world by the Accounting and Finance Journal.
