The Organisational Psychology group has numerous interdisciplinary links inside and outside the School. For example, it has provided a co-founding member of the Gender and Management Special Interest Group and of the related British Academy of Management (BAM) Special Interest Group.

The group has also provided the Chair of the British Academy of Management, co-Chairs for a BAM Symposium and British Journal of Management Special Issue, and a member of the ESRC Panel, Management and Business Subject Areas Recognition.

Home to a dedicated research centre, the Centre for Equality and Diversity at Work, the Organisational Psychology group is internationally-renowned for its research in the areas of -

  • gender and cognition
  • leadership
  • organisational change
  • mergers and acquisitions
  • emotional intelligence management
  • selection and assessment

Particular themes to be pursued include: bullying and violence in the workplace; e-mentoring and e-coaching; entrepreneurship; small- and medium-sized businesses; racial and gender diversity; emotional intelligence and the quality of service; and occupational health and well-being.

The Organisational Psychology Group has attracted many major grants from a range of funders including the European Social Fund, ESRC, NHS, and the BMA.
