Biography

Gill Harvey is a Professor of Healthcare Management. She has a professional background in nursing and prior to taking up post at MBS (in August 2003), Gill worked for nine years as the Director of the Royal College of Nursing's Quality Improvement Programme. In this post, she was responsible for leading the RCN's work on clinical guidelines, audit, clinical governance and healthcare quality improvement and was involved in a wide range of educational, research, development and policy-focused activities. Gill's own research interests are particularly focused on knowledge translation and utilisation and facilitating improvement in health care.

Research Interests

Gill's research interests are particularly focused on evidence-based practice and knowledeg mobilisation in healthcare. She has been involved in the NIHR Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) Greater Manchester since its establishment in 2008. In 2014 she was named in the Thomson-Reuters list of highly cited researchers within the social sciences category in recognition of her work on developing, evaluating and refining a widely used conceptual framework for knowledge translation in health care - the PARIHS framework (Promoting Action on Research Implementation). She is currently involved in international studies with researchers in Australia, Canada and Sweden.
