Biography

Dr Judy Zolkiewski is a Professor of Marketing at Manchester Business School, UK and is Associate Head of Division (MSM) for Teaching. She is also an Assistant Associate Dean for Teaching, Learning and Students in the Faculty of Humanities. She received her PhD in 1999 from UMIST. Before becoming a full-time academic in 1999 she had considerable industrial experience working for 15 years at Ferranti Computer Systems Ltd. She is an internationally-recognized scholar with research interests focussing on understanding the operation of business-to-business marketing and purchasing, both in the traditional manufacturing and engineering industries and in the evolving business-to-business services sector. She publishes in the leading international journals in her area and is also on the editorial boards of these journals. In addition to this, she has had a number of successful Knowledge Transfer partnerships, one winning the ESRC prize for the ‘Best Application of Social or Management Science’ and she has also hosted a prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship.

Research Interests

Professor Zolkiewski's research interests have centred on the application of marketing and management theory in business-to-business markets and the services sector. She is an active member of the IMP research community. Areas of current interest include:

  • Service business-to-business relationships and networks
  • Servitization processes
  • Network strategy
  • Management of relationship portfolios
  • Impact of technology on marketing relationships
  • The role of customer service in business-to-business relationships
  • The darker side of business relationships and networks.

Postgraduate Opportunities

I am interested in supervising students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) in the general area of business-to-business marketing, with a focus on relationships and networks. This can be from the traditional manufacturing sector or in business-to-business services/servitization. By their nature business-to-business relationships are international in nature so applicants with an international focus to their research are also welcome.

Judy Zolkiewski's main teaching interests are in the area of business-to-business marketing and strategy. She currently offers marketing courses on the MSc in Marketing and provides specialist input on business-to-business marketing and relationship management to undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
