Boom or bust for British business

Join us for a morning of stimulating discussions on the potential impacts for international trade of the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union

Event Location

Event Type

Duration 9am-1pm

What does the future hold for the UK’s trading relationships? Brexit requires that the UK negotiate a new trading relationship both with its European neighbours, and with the rest of the world. Is this an unprecedented opportunity to forge new and dynamic partnerships with countries around the globe without the restrictions of EU membership? Or is it an exercise fraught with risk and difficulty for a country with little institutionalised experience in negotiating trade deals after four decades within the single market?

Join us for a morning of stimulating discussions on the potential impacts for international trade of the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union.

This workshop, facilitated by experts on international trade, and on foresight and horizon scanning, from the Alliance Manchester Business School, will consider a number of possible outcomes of negotiations over the coming months and years – from the softest to the hardest of Brexits. Participants will work through these scenarios, and consider how businesses can respond to these various situations, and how to make themselves resilient to the broadest range of possible consequences.
