Heathrow Delays: Nuno Gil comments in the Financial Times

Professor of New Infrastructure Development, Nuno Gil, was featured in the Financial Times comment section in response to a column regarding Heathrow’s delay problem. In Professor Gil’s letter, he criticised the column for name calling, instead saying that the London airport problem is a “tragedy of the anti-commons”. Professor Gil said that the “anti-commons” is a co-ordination breakdown that occurs when there is too much fragmentation of property rights. He then suggested that the limits of London airport growth have potentially been reached and the existing facilities should be embraced.
