July 2017: Reflecting on my year in Manchester

0

This is my last blog as a Masters student at Alliance MBS. It is unbelievable how quickly this year has passed. It is mid-July already and I have to intensely focus on the dissertation. I feel nervous because of the impending due date.

Although the dissertation requires a lot of work and dedication, there is plenty of time to enjoy the city. During the weekend, I took a road trip to Cornwall where I was fascinated by its stunning sights. Cornwall is known as the UK’s favourite holiday destination. It is one of the most beautiful places in Britain and is the most popular spot to get the perfect picture fit for your Instagram feed.

With just over 6 weeks left, I found this year is passing by in a flash. A year of my postgraduate study has been a memorable experience and I have learnt a lot from it. I soon have to say goodbye to all the wonderful people I met here. I was more than happy to join the MSc Accounting and Finance course where I have fully met my expectations. It has allowed me to acquire the crucial set of skills and competences. I am thankful to all my lecturers and supervisor. I am also grateful for the new friends that I met here. This past year was challenging but it was also one of the best years of my life. I have learned a lot, such as how to live on my own in a foreign country. These experiences I got are the most valuable lessons in my life.

I could now say that Manchester is my home. I think that Manchester is a lively city where I can balance my academic and social life. There are a lot of things to do here such as visiting art galleries and museums, shopping, dining in a variety of restaurants, watching football and wandering in surrounding cities. I would say that everything you need is here.

There will not be goodbyes, but just ‘see you soon’ to this amazing city!
