MBS Alum Amman Ahmed, founder of roundwaves.com and award-winning app Rormix, shares his story since graduating in 2010.

The businesses

After completing a BSc in Information Systems Engineering at MBS, Amman invested his £1,000 student loan into creating roundwaves.com, a YouTube multi-channel network working with artists in developing countries to create music for relaxation and concentration, as well as relaxation music for animals.

Using the revenue from roundwaves.com, Amman and his team created and financed music app Rormix, a unique platform where users can discover emerging music video content and access a vast catalogue of over 2000 unsigned independent artists. The business also supplies music video content to major gymnasiums such as David Lloyd, Virgin Active and Fitness First.

The outcomes
Roundwaves.com now receives 2.7 million monthly views from 178 countries around the world and has gained coverage in prestigious publications such as the Wall Street Journal and The Times.

To date, Rormix has received more than 30,000 downloads and was named ‘Best App of 2013’ by The Next Web. The app has recently been launched on Firefox OS Marketplace and featured on its homepage where it received more than 4,000 downloads in the first 48 hours.

The future
Most recently, Rormix has received significant investment from AXM Venture Capital Limited through its North West Fund 4 Digital and Creative, which will allow Amman’s team to sky rocket growth and further build on this hugely successful business. Roundwaves.com has also continued to grow with six different YouTube channels to date.
