Bookings now open for the 11th annual Masood Enterprise School

The session, run by the Masood Enterprise Centre, is open to all PhD students and researchers from any faculty at The University of Manchester. It provides an excellent opportunity to learn about enterprise and how to apply it to your work, whether you are pursuing a career in academia, industry or starting your own business. Many past attendees have kept in touch with the team, several start their own business each year and almost all find themselves using their new skills.

The aim is for teams of researchers to create a business case for an idea they have fully explored during the course. The Lake District provides an excellent environment for business ideas, especially those with a social enterprise element. Issues include seasonality, brain drain, unemployment, tourism (the good and bad elements it brings), pollution, farming and local produce, transport, water engineering, and the nearby nuclear industry.

It is a highly interactive, group working environment where you are tutored by enterprise experts and guest entrepreneurs. You will also speak to real potential customers and businesses in the area for feedback to help shape your ideas.

This year’s Enterprise School takes place at the Grange Hotel in Grange-over-Sands from Monday 1 to Thursday 4 July 2019.
