Students, alumni and VIPs from business and academia gathered on 13 October to celebrate the grand opening of MBS’ new East Asia Centre.

The opening celebrations, with the theme of the key to global success, included ‘unlocking’ and lighting up the global map to a celebratory lion dance – a Chinese tradition symbolising a fresh start with good luck, fortune, joy and happiness.

An opening speech was delivered by Professor Fiona Devine, and guests enjoyed a series of toasts and networking throughout the evening. Leaving with their gift of a key shaped USB, all were certain that the grand opening could only bode well for the future – unlocking more doors and accelerating more careers.

Taking centre stage were guests of honour:
Professor Fiona Devine, OBE, Head of Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester
Ir. Dr. Raymond Ho Chung-tai SBS, MBE, S.B.St.J., JP, Chairman of Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Plant
Dr. Eric Li Ka Cheung, GBS, OBE, JP, – President of the Hong Kong Foundation for the University of Manchester (HKFUM)
