International Nuclear Services
Manchester Leadership Development Programme
The Manchester Leadership Development Programme takes place over six months and consists of 3x3 day residential blocks, featuring a range of focused, intense and participative activities looking at leadership, strategy and commercial excellence.
International Nuclear Services Limited (INS) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and has extensive and proven expertise in irradiated fuel management and nuclear material transportation. INS’s Head of HR, Nicola Bacon, attended the course along with two colleagues and the programme now forms part of the organisation’s management development initiative.
The programme provided us with a more structured leadership framework which is required to operate at a senior level. The content itself has given us an insight into our own individual leadership styles alongside a wide range of strategic and commercial skills.
As individuals, we have come to recognise that we were already operating as leaders utilising skills and experiences that we had naturally developed within our careers. However, the programme gave us access to a “toolkit” that we could refer to as appropriate. As a result, we are more confident in our leadership qualities and styles and we are more comfortable in dealing with the unexpected. The issues that we believe are unique to our industry are actually common place across sectors.
The structure of the programme encourages participants to interact socially and professionally with a range of people and demonstrates that collaboration, regardless of diversity, will deliver success."
