MSc Management Practice

The MSc Management Practice is a new leadership development programme that is up to 100% fully funded through the apprenticeship levy. It is designed especially for strategic leaders in the private, public or third sector who are responsible for delivering results.

The two year, part-time, blended learning Masters course is senior leader apprenticeship (Level 7) accredited programme from the University of Manchester.

The format of the programme has been carefully aligned with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and applies to real business and organisational issues.

By using apprenticeship levy funding for this programme, companies can cost effectively develop managers and leaders to build successful, sustainable and profitable businesses for the future. Not only developing more confident and agile existing leaders but also attracting new talent.

The Delegates

Level 7 senior leadership apprenticeships are for professional strategic leaders in the private, public or third sector who are responsible for delivering results through:

  • Direction and vision;
  • Identifying long term opportunities and risks;
  • Shaping innovative and supportive cultures.

Specific job roles may include General Manager, Senior Manager, Executive, Director, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Information Officer.

Entry requirements

A First or Upper Second class honours degree (2:1) plus three years' management experience (with strong and consistent career progression and achievement)

Or

Five years' management experience (with strong and consistent career progression and achievement), plus interview with the course director.

And

English and Maths GCSE at grade C or above, or equivalent qualification.

  • evidence of minimum GCSE grade C in English (or acceptable equivalent)
  • evidence of minimum GCSE grade C in Mathematics (or acceptable equivalent)
  • references
  • letter of support from your employer

For GCSE equivalency information, see pp18-21 of the Specification of apprenticeship standards for England, August 2018. GCSE or equivalent certificates can be uploaded using the document type ‘Other’.
The letter of support from your employer should be from someone with authority to sponsor you on the programme. It should confirm that your employer understands the requirements of the apprenticeship programme and supports your application.
If you are not able to submit all your documents when completing the application form, it is possible to email them to apprenticeship.admissions@manchester.ac.uk. Please be aware that this may result in a delay to your application being processed.
