Join us for our first event in our Executive Education Insight Series, Decision Making: Act or Process.

The event will feature an insightful talk delivered by John McCormack, Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in Project Management at AMBS, where we will explore:

  • Key elements of how we make decisions and steps in the decision-making process
  • How our decisions are influenced in individual and group settings by elements of our external environment
  • The influence of internal cognition and the systems and processes we use to guide us
  • How to better understand, anticipate, and influence how we and those around us make decisions

The event will be facilitated by Stuart Wells Executive Director of Client Relations at AMBS and aims to bring the AMBS Alumni and Executive Education communities together.

8:00-8:30am - Arrival, registration, and pastries
8:30-9:30am – Decision Making: Act or Process session with John McCormack
9:30-10:30am – Networking

During the session you'll have the opportunity to network with fellow alumni and senior leaders from a variety of industries, as well as finding out more about AMBS's portfolio of professional development courses.

John McCormack

John Mccormack

John McCormack joined the University of Manchester as a Senior Lecturer in Project Management in 2023, where he is the Programme Director of the Integrating Complex Projects, Programmes and Portfolios (ICP3) Programme.

His previous experience includes working with University of Bristol, Cranfield University and Cardiff Metropolitan University. He has a broad experience teaching traditional and executive students in the United Kingdom and internationally. His previous roles also include Director for BSc and MSc degrees in Management and Technology Management.

His research interests include the study of operational performance in public organisations, specifically the potential impact of social and political motives on project management decision-making. His work has been published in various newspapers and academic journals, including The Economics Journal, Human Relations, Work, Employment and Society and Human Resource Management Journal.

He has studied at Boston College, Boston University, University of Maryland and Cranfield University. Prior to joining AMBS, John worked in Project Management and Professional Services for firms such as Cisco Systems and Merrill Lynch, in addition to serving as an officer in the United States Army.
