We will consider the subjects you have taken in addition to your individual grades. Due to the popularity of our courses we may prioritise applicants based on the number of preferred subjects that they are studying. We may also take into consideration the combination of subjects taken. Please check the individual course profile pages for our list of preferred subjects, you can find this under 'Entry requirements'.

All sections of the UCAS application form, including the personal statement, are carefully assessed and taken into account when making a final decision on an applicant’s eligibility. The personal statement is a crucial part of the UCAS application. It is your opportunity to demonstrate your genuine interest and passion in the subject area, to explain in your own words why you think you are suitable for the course and to show what extra-curricular activities you have taken part in that are relevant to the academic field.

We are looking for a well written personal statement with correct grammar and spelling. Please see UCAS for further guidance.

We do accept resit examinations. We understand that students resit exams for a variety of different reasons. Whilst we do not normally increase our entry requirements for the first resit, this would be considered for subsequent resits.

The EPQ gives students excellent preparation for university-level study. The skills that students develop through the EPQ, like independent study and research skills, are directly relevant and useful to university-level study. Although the EPQ will not formally be included in the conditions of your offer, we strongly encourage you to provide information about the EPQ on your application form. We may choose to take your performance in the EPQ into account should places be available in August for applicants who narrowly miss the entry grades for their chosen course.

Our admissions process seeks to identify and offer places to those students of the highest academic merit with the greatest capacity to thrive on our academically-intensive and fast-paced undergraduate courses. Our undergraduate courses are academically structured for students who have met or exceeded our entry criteria, therefore we do not issue offers with lower offer conditions.

Unfortunately, we do not accept grade 4 at Higher Level in the International Baccalaureate. Read more about our International Baccalaureate entry requirements.

We accept both Mathematics: Analysis & Approaches and Mathematics: Applications & Interpretations in lieu of SL Maths to meet our Maths subject requirements.

We do accept BTEC qualifications, either on their own or in conjunction with A-levels dependent on which BTEC qualification you are studying. The subject of your BTEC qualification will be taken into consideration when making a decision on your application. Read more about our BTEC entry requirements.

We may still accept your qualifications even if they are not listed on our website, please email the Undergraduate Admissions Team a copy of your course syllabus and grading scheme, along with your timetable and assessment criteria so that we can advise whether your course is suitable for direct progression onto one of our degree programmes.

Unfortunately, we are unable to combine IELTS certificates. You must meet our minimum entry criteria in each component in a single IELTS exam.

Your offer conditions will include a deadline date to send us a copy of your IELTS certificate or an alternative recognised English language qualification. If you send us your results after this date, we are unable to guarantee your place, as places are subject to availability.

If you require a visa to study in the UK we need your results as soon as possible because we can only start CAS assignment once it is confirmed that you have met all parts of your offer conditions.

If your score is only slightly below our minimum English language entry requirements we may still be able to consider your application as we may be able to offer the option of taking a Pre-sessional English language course at The University of Manchester. For details on our eligibility criteria please see our English language information page.

We do not accept any transfers directly into the second or third year due to the assessment and study options followed by our first-year students. All of our undergraduate courses are full degree programmes with a September start. All students must start the programme from year one and meet our general entry criteria. If you wish to be considered for year one entry you will need to apply via UCAS.

We do not currently offer an integrated foundation year programme. However, we do accept a select number of international foundation year qualifications for progression into the first year of study at AMBS. For a list of all the international foundation year qualifications that we currently accept, please see the information about international foundation year courses.

All of our undergraduate degree courses start in September each year and we do not currently offer a January intake.

There are specific criteria that you must meet in your first year to become eligible for a work placement. These requirements vary depending on the degree programme. Please view our online handbook for full details. Please note that this information is subject to change each academic year.

We don't currently offer a programme which formally combines the opportunity to study abroad and complete a work placement. We only offer the options of either studying abroad for a year or completing a work placement for a year. For any student considering both of these opportunities, we would recommend considering independently securing a work placement during the summer.

If you are enrolled on the BSc Management or BSc International Management you can take a maximum of 20 credits of language courses from the University Language centre in your second and final year. Please note this information is subject to change each academic year.

We may be able to consider an alternative personal statement. Please note that this is dependent on the number of applications that we receive each year and we are unable to make any guarantees. Please email the Undergraduate Admissions Team if you wish to submit an alternative personal statement.
