Scholarships and funding

Discover the funding opportunities available to you

If you need funding for your Masters course, you should research your options as soon as possible.

Funding opportunities

There are a number of funding options for Masters courses and these will vary depending on whether you’re a student from the UK, EU or an international student from outside the EU.

Please note: only one scholarship award can be allocated per student. If you receive an external scholarship award or postgraduate loan which only covers part of your tuition fee, you can still be considered for an Alliance MBS scholarship.

Funding for UK and EU students

If you are a prospective Masters student from the UK or EU, there are potential sources of funding available. The UK Government has confirmed that Postgraduate Loans will be offered to UK and EU students starting a masters course in the 2019/20 academic year.

If you are a student from another EU country, you will continue to remain eligible for masters, postgraduate and advanced learner financial support in the 2019/20 academic year and will continue to have access to student loans and grants, even if the course concludes after the UK’s exit from the EU.

Manchester Alumni Scholarship Scheme

The Scholarship is offered to students and alumni of The University of Manchester enrolling on one of the Business School's taught Masters courses in September 2019. To reward academic merit, we give a £3,000 award to those achieving a first class honours degree and £1,000 for an upper second class honours degree (2:1, with 60% average). The award is deducted from the course tuition fee at registration.

Manchester Masters Bursary Scheme

The University’s Manchester Masters Bursary offers 100 bursaries each year for masters students, worth £3,000 in funding. The bursaries are aimed at widening access to masters courses by removing barriers to postgraduate education for students from underrepresented groups, so applicants need to meet a number of criteria to be eligible. Last year, there were more eligible applications than places, so meeting the criteria is no guarantee of an award.
