The Masood Enterprise Centre at The University of Manchester is launching its Kickstarter Fund. The £25k fund will be part of a support package to test and develop early-stage business ideas. The aim is to create more successful start-ups from the ideas developed by students across the University.
The fund, available to students and recent graduates, has been generously donated by alumnus Nick Sanders. Nick is an aerospace engineer by training and spent his early career with Rolls Royce and Lucas Aerospace. More recently, he has led the turnaround and sale of a number of multi-million-pound businesses.
Nick is keen to support the next generation of graduate entrepreneurs and commented; “I am very impressed with the work of the Centre in encouraging students and graduates to develop new start-up businesses. This Kickstarter Fund will provide funding for them to develop these ideas and test the viability of them in the market.” Nick is also looking forward to meeting with the businesses funded to offer advice to support their development.
Lynn Sheppard, Director, Masood Enterprise Centre adds; “Early stage funding for ideas is of vital importance and this fund will ensure that we can encourage even more students to take forward their entrepreneurial ideas.”
