To mark The University of Manchester’s bicentennial year, distinguished international business expert Peter Buckley has been appointed the 200th Anniversary Chair in International Business at Alliance Manchester Business School.
Professor Buckley was a founding Director of the Centre for International Business at the University of Leeds, and today is a Fellow of numerous academies including the Academy of International Business, the British Academy of Management, the Royal Society of Arts, the European International Business Academy, and the Academy of Social Sciences.
He was also elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2014, and was made an OBE in 2012 for services to higher education, international business and research.
Honour
Professor Buckley said he was very honoured at the appointment. "I'm delighted to be joining a vibrant community of scholars dedicated to researching international business in a forward looking, globally focused business school."
He has published more than 250 refereed articles and 28 books (and edited 20 more) that have had almost 56,000 Google citations, while during his career he has also carried out consultancy assignments for central government, local government, international bodies and leading companies.
His current research interests include the theory of multinationals, the governance of global value chains and their relevance to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the rise of multinationals from emerging markets.
